Earlier this week, gambling operator Boyd Gaming Corporation released its fourth quarter and year end results for 2011.

The company's Q4 revenue rose 10 percent to $606.7 million in Q4 2011, up from $551.9 million the previous year. Higher revenue in Boyd's regional casinos helped the company in the fourth quarter as well as better performance from its gambling, food and drinks, and lodging businesses.

Boyd gaming also accounted a net loss of $491,000 for Q4, a significant improvement from the $7.1 million loss incurred in Q4 of 2010.

"We continued to produce consistent growth across the business in the fourth quarter. As economic conditions strengthen in our core markets, we are confident that our strategy of keeping a tight rein on costs, generating profitable new revenues and diversifying our sources of cash flow will deliver bottom-line results." said Boyd President and CEO Keith Smith.

For the year ending December 31, 2011, Boyd gaming's net revenue stood at $2.34 billion, a 9 percent increase from 2010's $2.14 billion.
